Tiki Tiki Boom Review
In general, tiki slot themes are quite relaxed and always based on some paradise island; however, there is a bit of a frenzied feel about this game as you head into the bonus round. The contrast between this and the base game is evident and should keep you entertained throughout.
It's a great effort from Northern Lights and they've come up with just the right mix of bonuses and modifiers to keep slot fans coming back for more.
Design
There is a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde feel to the two main parts of this game, which is highlighted by the up-tempo music that arrives along with your respins. For the main part, it is pretty chilled out as the waves lap the shore and you're treated to some Pacific island audio effects to keep your ears happy while you hit that spin button.
All of the visuals are bright and well-crafted and there are even a few animated elements, including the swaying palm trees and the barrel in the bottom corner that looks ready to explode at any moment. Don't forget, you can enjoy everything that this game has to offer on a range of different devices including Apple and Android mobiles.
Game Play
With the small Barrel symbols potentially producing a ton of wild action at any moment, the base game is always an exciting ride. Keep an eye on the Feature Upgrade meter as it is always nice to see how many extra rows you will get when you trigger that bonus game.
Regular wild symbols can also land at any point to help modify the base game but, naturally, the bulk of the modifying action appears in Tiki Tiki Spins. The biggest wins and broadest smiles will certainly be achieved at this moment.
Win Potential
Players could get their hands on a respectable 11,000x thanks to these exploding barrels and big bold masks. The RTP of 96.15% seems about right and the volatility is surprisingly respectful of your balance with a medium setting.
Our Verdict
You usually know what you’re going to get with a tiki-themed slot—a lot of sand and wood carvings. But Northern Lights has caught me out with a couple of surprising curveballs in Tiki Tiki Boom. Thankfully, they haven’t gone overboard with the respin modifiers, as some other developers do with their creations, and have managed to keep the balance just right. The base game isn't the most exciting but it does its job and once the bonus feature begins, you are certainly in for a treat.
