Star Guardians Review
As the biggest budget game in Evoplay’s history, Star Guardians had a lot to live up to. Not only that, but the game boasted about being the first third-person shooter slot and one of the few to offer a unique experience in iGaming.
There are no traditional reels or paylines with players instead shooting aliens to gather up wins. Throughout the gameplay, players must work with the Star Guardians to defeat the mutant Tritons and defeat the queen once and for all. With three different characters to choose from and a full arsenal at the ready, players can win up to 5,000x the stake by saving the galaxy and doing it in style.
Design
It’s safe to say that there is no other online slot that looks like this. Star Guardians look straight out of a video game and bear similarities to mobile shooters such as Apex Legends. As the game starts, players must select which character they want with generic-looking heroes but ones that look cool nevertheless.
The environment of the slot is constantly changing with different doors opening throughout the space facility. In addition to the environments changing, the enemies vary in each door shaking up the game even more. There is even a boss level with a hideous looking queen that looks like something straight out of Halo.
As for the music, there is an epic soundtrack playing throughout spins that builds up the atmosphere correctly. Thankfully, there is also voice acting from the main characters as they shoot to add a light-hearted tone to the game.
Gameplay
This is not your average online slot. Star Guardians do feature spins but not of any reels. Instead, players progress through the space station to battle aliens either by spinning or manually shooting them.
During the manual mode, players can move around the screen with letters on the keyboard and shoot with the mouse. On mobile, this is instead substituted with clicking the screen as well. Like most online slots, the bet level can be adjusted at the bottom of the screen. There is also the spin button and a variety of other menus at the bottom of the screen.
Win Potential
Despite being an abnormal online slot, Star Guardians still contains a win potential and a decent one at that. There is a respectable RTP of 96% followed by a high volatility level leading to larger wins but less frequently.
The biggest win in this slot is 5,000x the stake that is achieved by killing the alien queen later on in the bonus game. Of course, bigger wins can be achieved through the boxes and boosts during the game as well.
Our Verdict
The minute you open up Star Guardians, it’s apparent that this is not your average online slot. There is so much interactivity and excitement going on that it barely feels like an online slot anymore.
Evoplay is definitely bridging the gap between traditional video game players and those who enjoy online slots to create a match made in iGaming heaven. The presentation of the game is impressive and has an incredibly high standard of detail.
Similarly, the choice of characters and variety of creatures definitely makes the slot feel less repetitive. Star Guardians looks to be the future of iGaming and easily stand-outs as one of the top online slots of 2021.
