Cresus Fortunes Review
When we first started playing Cresus Fortunes, we had the nagging sense that we’d seen elements of the game somewhere before. The change of theme makes it feel like a very different game, but this is the same mechanic used in Gold Digger and Gold Digger Megaways, both of which also originate from iSoftBet.
We can’t say we’re too surprised, as we thought it was a whole lot of fun the first time around, so we were delighted to discover it all over again.
Design
Quite a few mythical-themed slots take themselves seriously, but the emphasis is on fun in Cresus Fortunes. Graphics have a strong cartoon feel to them, with a friendly Cresus standing alongside the reels ready to help things along with a modifier or two.
There are hints of an epic soundtrack, although it’s kept fairly subdued so that you can hear the reels landing. It all contributes to a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, suggesting that fun is on the way!
Gameplay
Set your wager and spin the reels of Cresus Fortunes in the hope of matching up symbols across one or more of the game’s 20 paylines. Cresus occasionally throws a modifier onto the reels during base gameplay, with the aim of helping you towards a winning outcome:
- Vases: turn 3 – 4 random symbols Wild.
- Coin clusters: transform symbols into Scatters, which could activate the Gem Link Bonus.
- Single coins: upgrade coin symbols to higher-paying ones.
Gem Link Bonus
You’ll need to land five or more diamond Scatters in view to activate the bonus round. This moves gameplay to another set of reels, which contain diamond Scatters, coloured gemstones and blanks. The bonus starts with 3 respins, with the counter resetting to 3 when gemstones or diamond Scatters land.
Throughout the bonus, coloured gems are collected above the reels. Collect three matching gems to trigger the following Boosters:
- Blue gems: Reels Boosted with one of 3 additional rows opening up to gameplay.
- Green gems: Values Boosted, with all diamond Scatters in view awarded a boost to their values.
- Red gems: Spins Boosted, with an extra spin added to the respin counter.
- Purple gems: Multiplier Boosted, with an award that can go up to 10x.
When no more respins are left, the values of all diamond Scatters are added up, and the current multiplier is applied to the win
Win potential
This is a medium-volatility slot, so careful bankroll management is advised to give yourself plenty of winning opportunities. Coin symbols pay from 1.5x – 4x for five-of-a-kind wins, increasing to 5x for the scrolls and 7.5x for the golden cups. The lady pays up to 15x, with Cresus topping the paytable with a maximum payout worth 25x your bet.
It’s the Gem Link Bonus that offers potential for the biggest payouts, so your aim is to keep spinning up as many gems as possible. If you manage to activate all three extra rows and increase the multiplier all the way up to 10x, you could be in line for that 8,320x max win!
Our Verdict
It’s fair to say that Cresus Fortune has a lot going for it, with some interesting modifiers that raise gameplay well above the average. The Gem Link Bonus can be particularly thrilling when the Gem Booster features come into play, which can generate some big cash prizes. Big wins are never guaranteed though – so explore some spins in demo mode if you’re not sure what to expect.
You don’t have to be as rich as Cresus to enjoy playing this game – in fact, even if you land the max win you’re not even going to come close. But we wouldn’t turn down the chance to win over 8,000x our bet, and we can’t imagine any other slot players would either. Give Cresus Fortune a spin and let us know what you think!
